Mark your Calendar for Indigenous Peoples’ Day Celebration

We hope you will join us in celebrating Richmond’s third annual Indigenous Peoples' Day celebration on Monday, October 13.

This year, we are continuing our commitment as a faith sponsor of the event, and we encourage your participation in this celebration of Virginia's eleven indigenous tribes, with special attention given this year to the Monacan Indian Nation.

While activities will run from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., the celebration will officially "kick off" at 3:45 p.m. with speakers, music, dancing, and indigenous food and crafts for sale.

A comprehensive flyer with all event details is available here.

We need volunteers to assist at this year's Indigenous People's Day. Please contact Rev. Anthony for more details.

Chief Stephen Adkins of the Chickahominy Tribe has agreed to speak at one of St. John's Church Foundation's Walter Craigie Speaker's Series events. Once the foundation has secured a date, we will let you know about it.

The tribe's 73rd annual Pow Wow is September 27 & 28 at the Chickahominy Tribal Grounds in Providence Forge. The event is free and open to the public. If you'd like to attend, please click here to learn more.

Due to scheduling conflicts and low participation, the field trip to the Sharon Indian School is indefinitely postponed.

Chief Frank from the Upper Mattaponi tribe will still be visiting St. John's for Sunday Forum in November.
