Clergy Message
As my time with you as Priest Locum Tenens comes to an end on June 30, I want to thank you for allowing me to walk along side you these past six weeks. It has been my pleasure to once again serve at St. John’s.
Months ago, when Amelie and I began making plans for her medical leave, she certainly expected to be back with you by July 1. However, as you may be aware, she experienced a setback in her recovery from major intestinal surgery and was re-hospitalized for ten days. She is now back in her home recuperating and will continue under her surgeon’s close care through regular check-ins. Because of this, her medical leave has been extended until the first of August.
Until Amelie’s return, Rev. Anthony, along with the assistance of the Rev. Laura Inscoe, as needed, will provide priestly and pastoral support for this parish family on Sundays and during the week. Your vocational deacons, JD and Peggy, will also be on hand to assist the Pastoral Care team with needs. On the administrative side of things, Patty Duffy will do what she does best in managing the office, supporting the finance committee, paying the bills, maintaining the parish calendar, and ensuring weekly communications are sent. Patty, along with your music director, Curt Sydnor, will ensure weekly bulletins are prepared, and Curt, in his creative way, will continue to enhance worship with his musical skills. The staff will meet weekly with your Senior Warden, Laura Streat, for check-ins and to address any concerns that may arise.
While I was hoping to pass the baton directly back to Amelie, I have utmost confidence in the clergy and staff of St. John’s to do a stellar job until her return. I also know you to be faithful and generous people who will continue to actively participate in the life of this parish. (You, after all, are the Church!) Please continue to keep Amelie in your prayers and know that she loves and misses you!
In the meantime, Pastoral Care team leader Barbara Bayler will serve as the point person for arranging any brief visits or meal support once Amelie is further along in her recovery. Barbara can be reached here.
See you on Sunday!
Gratefully,
Jenny+
